Technology Facility Engineer, Chevron

It has been a long time since the last time I post anything here.. but I guess It will never be too late for my memorable summer at Chevron! I joined the P&TS Design Assurance team as a Technology Facility Engineer Intern. Coming in as a Computer Engineering student, working in the oil & gas industry was definitely a new experience for me. A lot of the engineering concepts and processes were completely new to me, and there were definitely moments when I had no idea what people were talking about 😂 But that became one of the biggest lessons I took away from this internship: sometimes in life, you simply won’t understand something at first. What matters is being open, curious, and willing to learn. I got to work on several technology projects, including developing tools for engineering documents and drawings, working with OCR, and building tools to support the verification of safety-critical instrumentation. It was really interesting to see how technology can be applied to an industry as established as oil and gas, and how it can improve existing engineering processes while keeping safety and reliability at the centre. One thing that really stayed with me was hearing so many Operational Excellence (OE) moments throughout my internship. They made me realise how something as small as paying attention to the smallest detail can have a huge impact when people's safety is involved... It definitely changed the way I think about being careful and responsible in my own work. And honestly, the people here were amazing. ❤️ I’m especially grateful to my mentor, P’Jo Suradech Kongkiatpaiboon, who is incredibly capable, all-around, and someone I genuinely look up to. He is someone I hope to learn from and take as an example.🙏🫡I also learned so much from everyone in the team! everyone was incredibly approachable, smart, experienced, and knowledgeable in their own areas!!
